This is the Motorola Moto G7 Power with a 5000mAh battery.

Motorola is preparing to launch 4 devices under the Moto G7 brand this year: the Moto G7, Moto G7 Plus, Moto G7 Play, and Moto G7 Power. Motorola has previously released “Play” and “Plus” variants of their G series devices which are generally lower and higher-end models of the standard device. The new “Power” variant seems to be between the “Play” and the standard model in that it sports mid-range specifications, but it’ll also have a massive 5,000mAh battery that dwarfs the battery capacity of the other 3 models.

One model number for the upcoming Moto G7 Power has appeared on the FCC, revealing the battery capacity, device dimensions, rear design (as shown in the feature image above), and connectivity information. We have also been holding onto information from a reliable source detailing some of the other specifications of the device that we now feel comfortable in sharing. First, here’s what we’ve learned about the device from the FCC.

XT1955-4, One of Four Moto G7 Power Model Numbers

The certification documents for a device with model number XT1955-4 was published just a few hours ago, and the battery information reveals that the device has a battery capacity of 5,000mAh.

Next, we can see that the device measures 159mm x 76mm with a diagonal of 167mm. The device has a single rear camera. We can’t see the dimensions of the display from this schematic, unfortunately.

Rumored Motorola Moto G7 Power Specifications

We have been given evidence that the Moto G7 Power, code-named “ocean,” is based on the “msm8953” platform by Qualcomm. The msm8953 typically denotes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, but our source has clarified that the device is, in fact, running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 platform with the Adreno 506 GPU. (We should note that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, 625, 626, and 632 are pin and software compatible, which is why a device may show “msm8953” in a benchmark for all 4 of these mobile platforms.) The use of the Snapdragon 632 matches the information that has surfaced recently for the Moto G7 Play. The Snapdragon 632 is built on a FinFET 14nm process and introduces Kryo 250 semi-custom CPU cores with four Cortex-A73 performance cores and four Cortex-A53 efficiency cores. We were given information that the device will come in 2, 3, and 4 GB RAM versions, and that there will be 32 or 64GB storage models. We don’t know how the RAM and storage models will be combined, however.

The device has a single rear-facing 12MP f/2.0 sensor and a single front-facing 8MP f/2.2 sensor. We’re told that some of the device’s camera features include the new Cinemagraph mode from the Moto Z3 Play, spot coloring, and the ability to take bokeh shots with the single rear camera. The device is running Android 9 Pie out of the box, though it’s not going to be an Android One device.

As for the display, our source isn’t entirely sure of the exact specification. We were told to expect a 6.22-inch HD+ notched display, which is close to the dimensions shown in the schematics shown above when accounting for the bottom bezel. The colors we should expect include Indigo, Silver, “Blush,” and Black. We don’t know if all colors will be available at launch, however.

In future articles, we will share the information we have gathered on the other Moto G7 models. For now, we’ll leave you with the devices’ marketing names, code-names, and model numbers to end any confusion about each of the devices.

Motorola Moto G7 (code-named “river”) with model numbers XT1962-1, XT1962-4, XT1962-5, XT1962-6

Motorola Moto G7 Play (code-named “channel”) with model numbers XT1952-1, XT1952-2, XT1952-3/XT1952-4/XT1952DL
