NOKIA COMES WITH 5G IN 2K20

Nokia 8.2 will reportedly launch with 5G support.

No 4G variant of Nokia 8.2 expected as per the report.

HMD Global could launch the Nokia 8.2 at MWC 2020.

Nokia 8.2 is back in the news again. Last month, there were reports that Nokia 8.2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 735 SoC and will come with 5G support. The same source now adds that the Nokia 8.2 will only launch with 5G support and that there won't be a separate 4G-only version as some rumours claim. Additionally, the Nokia 8.2 5G may launch at MWC 2020 next year and not in December as previously speculated.
NokiaPowerUser has been providing some info regarding HMD's plans for Nokia 8.2. The 4G version of the Nokia 8.2 was expected to launch in December, which made sense considering the Nokia 8.1 launched in the same month last year. However, NPU claims that since the Nokia 8.2 will only come with 5G support, HMD won't announce it until MWC 2020, which is expected to happen in late February.

HMD Global has already confirmed that it plans to launch affordable 5G Nokia smartphones next year to reach a wider audience. The Nokia 8 series is considered to be HMD's value flagship line, so it makes sense to see a Nokia 8.1 successor launch with 5G support. However, what does not make sense is hearing that HMD will not be launching a non-5G Nokia 8.2.

There are only a few markets where 5G services have been rolled out and India is not one of them. A non-5G Nokia 8.2 would have been nice to see in India next month considering HMD has been very quiet this year. The company has only launched the premium Nokia 9 PureView and a few affordable mid-range phones like the Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2. A value flagship like the Nokia 8.2 would have allowed HMD to compete in the sub Rs 30,000 category in India right now.

With that being said, nothing is set in stone just yet. HMD may very well launch a non-5G version of Nokia 8.2 in early December as suggested by tipster Nokia Anew recently. The Nokia 8.2 is also rumoured to launch with a Snapdragon 735 SoC, which is yet to be official. Qualcomm may announce the chipset at its Snapdragon Summit in early December, following which HMD could launch the Nokia 8.2.
